The U.S. ranks 4th in sugar consumption
According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2003 the United States consumed 8,614,460 tonnes of refined sugar, which was enough to make the United States rank fourth in that category. India ranked first, consuming 17,622,733 tonnes.
