The U.S. ranks 2nd in cabbage imports

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2006 the United States imported 174,095 tonnes of cabbages and other brassicas, or 10% of the world’s total. That amount was enough to make the United States rank second in that category. Hong Kong ranked first, importing 196,538 tonnes, or 12% of the world’s total.

According to pig-international.com, the United States produced 9,390,000 tons of pork in 2005, which made it rank second in that category. China ranked first, producing 49,685,000 tons of pork.

The U.S. ranks 2nd in pistachios

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations,  in 2006 the United States exported 48,571 tonnes of pistachios, or 16.5% of the world’s pistachio exports. This volume made the United States rank second in that category. Iran ranked first, exporting 163,431 tonnes, or 55.6% of the world total.

According to wikipedia, the United States has had eleven Nobel Laureates in literature, which makes the United States rank second in that category. France ranks first, with fifteen Nobel Laureates in literature.

According to the 2005 Durex Global Sex Survey, 43% of Americans state that they own at least one vibrator for sexual enhancement, a rate that makes the United States tied for second (with the United Kingdom) in that category. Taiwan ranks first, with 47% stating that they own a vibrator.

According to the 2007 Canadean report, Global Beer Trends, in 2006 the United States consumed 236,442,000 hectalitres of beer, which made the United States rank second in that category. China ranked first, consuming 346,366,000 hectalitres of beer.

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2002 the United States produced 12.24% of the world’s fertilizer, making it rank second in that category. China ranked first, producing 21.62% of the world’s fertilizer.

According to the CIA World Factbook, the United States ranks second in internet users. China ranks first. However, a far greater percentage of Americans (73%) than Chinese (19%) are internet users.

According to the United Nations, the United States produced 23% of the world’s electricity generated by wind, which made it rank second in that category. Germany ranked first, producing 25% of the wind-generated electricity.

According to the Global Footprint Network, the total ecological footprint of the United States is 9.4 global hectares per capita, which makes it rank second in that category. The United Arab Emirates ranks first, with an ecological footprint of 9.5 global hectares per capita.
