According to the OECD, in 2006 the United States ranked seventeenth out of twenty four member nations in terms of physicians per capita. Belgium ranked first.

According to the OECD (as reported in NationMaster), the United States ranks fifteenth of twenty-seven member nations in terms of reading literacy. Finland ranks first.

According to the CIA World Factbook, in 2007 the United States ranked sixty-third out of 199 countries in terms of the unemployment rate. Andorra and Monaco tied for first.

According to the World Resources Institute, in 2002 the United States ranked fifth in per capita meat consumption, consuming 124.8 kilograms per capita. Denmark ranked first, consuming 145.9 kilograms per capita. The world average was 39.7 kilograms per capita.
