The U.S. ranks 8th in female obesity

According to the World Health Organization, the United States ranks eighth in terms of obesity rates for females, ages fifteen and over. Tonga ranks first.

    How are we 8th in female obesity and 1st in over all obesity?!?!

    Thanks for the question. If you look at my posted rankings for male obesity and female obesity, I think you’d have to conclude that the Cook Islands are #1 overall in obesity, not the U.S.

    When you say that the U.S. is first overall, do you mean in the number of obese people, or the percent of people who are obese? The rankings may be different, depending on how you are figuring them…

    Keep in mind, The statistic showing America being #1 in obesity was posted in 2005. Maybe America has improved since then.
