The U.S. ranks 1st in electricity generation

According to British Petroleum, in 2006 the United States generated 22% of the world’s electricity, making it rank first in that category. China, which ranked second, generated 15% of the world total.

    The data for China for 2009 is out. China produced 3.6506 trillion kWh in 2009.

    Up to October 2009, the US produced 3.297257 trillion kWh in the first 10 months of the year. The US Energy Department estimated that the 2009 annual production figure will be 3.950248 trillion kWh.

    It seems that the US is No. 1 for 2009.

    The updated figure for China’s 2009 annual production of electricity is 3.71465 trillion kWh. This figure was released on 25 Feb 2010, together with a bunch of other data.
