The U.S. ranks 1st in paper

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2004 the United States processed 83,612,000 tonnes of paper and paperboard, or 24% of the world’s total. The United States ranked first in that category. Five countries–the United States, China, Japan, Canada, and Germany–accounted for 59% of the word’s total paper and paperboard production.
