The U.S. ranks 6th in mammals

According to the World Resources Institute, there are 104 endemic mammal species in the United States, which makes the United States rank sixth in that category. Australia ranks first, with 225 endemic mammal species.

The U.S. ranks 13th in arts funding

According to the Canada Council for the Arts, in 2003 the American government distributed the equivalent of 44¢ (Canadian) per capita in public arts grants, which made the United States rank thirteenth out of thirteen countries in that category. Sweden ranked first, distributing $28.38 (Canadian) per capita in arts grants.

The U.S. ranks 8th in researchers

According to the United Nations, there are 4,605 professional researchers in the United States for every 1,000,000 population, which makes the United States rank eighth in that category. Tonga ranks first, with 45,454 researchers per 1,000,000 population.
