The U.S. ranks 2nd in coal consumption

According to British Petroleum, in 2006 the United States consumed 567.3 million tonnes of coal, or 18.4% of the world total, enough to make the United States rank second in that category. China ranked first, consuming 1191.3 million tonnes, or 38.6% of the world total.

The top five countries–China, the United States, India, Japan, and Russia–accounted for 72.2% of the world’s total coal consumption in 2006.

The U.S. ranks 108th in livestock imports

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, livestock made up 3.28% of all agricultural imports into the United States in 2004, which made the United States rank one hundred and eighth in that category. Tonga ranked first, with livestock making up 30.95% of all agricultural imports.
