The U.S. ranks 1st in hotel and restaurant spending

According to the World Bank, spending on hotels and restaurants in the United States accounts for 33.3% of the world’s spending on hotels and restaurants, measured in terms of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). That makes the United States rank first in that category. Five countries–the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy–account for 57% of hotel and restaurant spending.

The U.S. ranks 25th in apples

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, Americans consume 21 kilograms per capita of apples each year, which makes the United States tied for twenty-fifth with Iceland and Australia. Austria ranks first, consuming 54 kilograms per capita per year.
