The U.S. ranks 6th in royalties

According to the UNDP, in the United States in 2005 there was the equivalent of $191.50 of royalties and licensing fees for every American, which made the United States rank sixth in that category. Luxembourg ranked first, with $627.90 of royalties and licensing fees per person.

The U.S. ranks 3rd in patents

According to the United Nations Development Programme, between 2000 and 2005 there were 244 patents granted in the United States for every 1,000,000 people. That makes the United States rank third in that category. South Korea ranks first, with 1113 patents per million people.
