The U.S. ranks 3rd in vermiculite

According to the British Geological Survey’s publication, World Mineral Production, 2003-2007, in 2007 the United States produced 100,000 tonnes of vermiculite, or 19.5% of the world’s total vermiculite production. That was enough for the United States to rank third in that category. South Africa ranks first, producing 199,664, or 39% of the world’s total.
