The U.S. ranks 2nd in salt

According to the British Geological Survey, in 2007 the United States produced 41,860,000 tonnes of salt, or 16.9% of the world’s total salt production. That is enough for the United States to rank second in that category. China ranked first, producing 59,755,300 tonnes, or 24.1% of the world total.
