The U.S. ranks 10th in economic freedom

According to the Heritage Foundation’s 2013 Index of Economic Freedom, the United States has an economic freedom score of 76.0, which makes the United States rank tenth out of one hundred seventy-seven ranked countries. Hong Kong ranks first, with an economic freedom score of 89.3.

In 2012, the United States also ranked tenth, with a score of 76.3.

    So what does the Heritage Foundation mean by Economice Freedom?
    How about including definitions in your ranking letters?

    Isn’t there a better or more objective organization than the arch-conservative Heritage Foundation to provide information on “economic” freedom?

    I don’t know if there is. I think the emphasis on economic freedom as the most important measure of freedom comes mostly from the right. I’m often struck by the high regard for Singapore by many folks. Singapore is far from free by almost any measure other than economic.
