The U.S. ranks 27th in alcohol

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2009 the United States had an alcohol supply of 6.8 kilograms per person, which was enough to make the United States rank twenty-seventh out of one hundred seventy-four countries ranked in that category. Estonia ranked first, with an alcohol supply of 19.5 kilograms per person.

The U.S. ranks 3rd in wine

According to FAOstat, in 2008 the United States imported 831,788 tonnes of wine, or 10.22% of the world’s total wine supply. That is enough for the United States to rank third in that category. Germany ranked first, importing 1,366,340 tonnes, or 16.79%  of the world total.

The U.S. ranks 15th in alcohol-related traffic deaths

According to data gathered by the World Health Organization in 2008, thirty-eight percent of all traffic fatalities in the United States are alcohol-related, which makes the United States rank fifteenth out of ninety-two countries who reported such data. Palau ranked first, at 100%. However, only three traffic deaths were reported by Palau.

According to the International Trade Centre, in 2007 the United States imported $69,002,000 worth of cider, mead, perry, and other, similar, fermented beverages, or 9.8% of the world total. That’s enough to make the United States rank third in that category. The United Kingdom ranks first, importing 24.9% of the world total.

The U.S. ranks 33rd in alcohol consumption

According to the World Health Organization, in 2003, adults over the age of fifteen in the United States consumed an average of 8.61 litres of alcohol, which was enough to make the United States rank thirty-third in that category. Luxembourg ranked first, consuming 15.56 litres per adult.

The U.S. ranks 9th in alcohol exports

According to the International Trade Centre, in 2005, the United States exported $ 1,652,604,000 worth of alcohol, which made it rank ninth in that category. France ranked first, exporting $ 10,035,117,000 worth of alcohol.

The U.S. ranks 18th in alcohol consumption

According to the Food and Agriculture Oranization of the United Nations, in 2003 the United States ranked eighteenth in terms of per capita alcohol consumption. Ireland ranked first.
