According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2009 the United States produced 1,099,300 tonnes of maize oil, or 44.6% of the world’s total maize oil production. That was enough to make the United States rank first in that category.

According to the USDA, in 2008-09, the United States produced 307.39 million tonnes of corn, or 38.9% of the world’s total corn production. That was enough to make the United States rank first in that category.

The U.S. ranks 1st in corn yield

According to the USDA, in 2008-09 the United States had a corn yield of 9.66 tonnes per hectare, which was enough to make the United States rank first in that category. The global average for corn yield was 5.05 tonnes per hectare.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in 2008-2009 there were 31.83 million hectares of corn planted in the United States, or 20.4% of the world total. That was enough to make the United States rank first in that category.
