The U.S. ranks 8th in cotton production

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in 2008 the United States produced 911 millions of 480 lbs. bales which was enough to make the United States rank eighth in that category. Australia ranked first, producing 1991 millions of 480 lbs. bales of cotton.

According to the International Trade Centre, in 2005 the United States exported over four billion dollars worth of cotton, which made the United States rank first in that category.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the United States ranks ninth out of twenty countries in terms of kilograms/hectare of cotton yield. Australia ranks first.
