According to the 2009 United Nations Development Report, emigrants from the United States remitted $2,972,000,000 back to the United States in 2007, which makes the United States rank thirty-second out of one-hundred-forty-six nations ranked in that category. India ranks first, with Indian emigrants remitting $35,262,000,000 back to India in 2007.

According to the United Nations’ 2009 Human Development Report, 28.3% of all emigrants from the United States reside in Europe, which makes the United States rank eighty-second in that category. Liechtenstein ranks first, at 92.0%.

According to the United Nations’ 2009 Human Development Report, 12.6% of all emigrants from the United States reside in Northern America, which makes the United States rank ninety-second in that category. Mexico ranks first, with 92.5% of all emigrants residing in Northern America.

According to the United Nations’ 2009 Human Development Report, 4.2% of all emigrants from the United States reside in Oceania. That is enough to make the United States tied for forty-third with South Korea in that category. Papua New Guinea ranks first, at 80.7%.

The U.S. ranks 9th in emigrants to Latin America and Caribbean

According to the 2009 United Nations Human Development Report, 32.2% of all emigrants from the United States reside in Latin America or the Caribbean, which makes the United States rank ninth out of 182 countries in that category. Paraguay ranks first, with 87.4% of all emigrants from that country residing in Latin America or the Caribbean.

According to the 2009 United Nations Human Development Report, 2.7% of all emigrants from the United States reside in Africa, which makes the United States rank forty-eighth out of 182 countries in that category. Burkina Faso ranks first, with 94.0% of all emigrants from that country residing in Africa.

According to the 2009 United Nations Human Development Report, 20.1% of all emigrants from the United States reside in Asia, which makes the United States rank forty-seventh in that category. Nepal ranks first, with 95% of all Nepali emigrants living in Asia.
