According to the World Resources Institute, there are 154 threatened fish species in the United States, which makes the United States rank first in that category.

There are 800 threatened fish species in the world.

The U.S. ranks 92nd in fish protein

According to the World Resources Institute, the typical American gets 4.1% of her or his total protein supply from fish, which makes the United States rank ninety-second in that category. The Maldives rank first, with 54.8% of the their protein coming from fish. The world average is 6.5%. At the other end of the spectrum are Lesotho and Tajikistan, which get virtually no protein from fish.

According to the World Resources Institute, the United States has 1,101 fish species, which makes it rank fourth in the world in that category. India ranks first, with 5,749 fish species.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the United States ranks ninety-fifth out of 114 countries in terms of percentage of food budget spent on fish. Hong Kong ranks first.
