The U.S. ranks 30th in approval of India’s leadership

According to the Gallup organization, 34% of Americans approve of the job performance of India’s political leaders, which makes the United States rank thirtieth out of ninety-five countries ranked in that category. Rwanda ranks first, with 71% of Rwandans approving of the leadership of India.

The U.S. ranks 11th in confidence in President Obama

According to the Pew Global Attitudes Project, 74% of Americans in 2009 expressed confidence in President Obama, which makes the United States rank eleventh out of twenty five nations surveyed in that category. Kenya ranks first, at 94%.

The U.S. ranks 6th in political culture

According to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2008 Index of Democracy, the United States has a political culture score of 8.75, which makes it tied for sixth with several other countries. Iceland and the Netherlands are tied for first, with a score of 10.00.

According to the EIU, “A successful democratic political culture implies that the losing parties and their supporters accept the judgment of the voters, and allow for the peaceful transfer of power” (16).
