The U.S. ranks 56th in women’s pay

According to Save the Children, in 2010 women in the United States earned, on average, 62% of what men earned, a ratio that makes the United States tied for fifty-sixth (with Switzerland) in that category. Mozambique ranks first, with women earning 90% of what men earned.

 

The U.S. ranks 10th in teachers’ salaries

According to the most recent data available from the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the top teacher salary for secondary teachers in the United States in 1999 was $48,037, making the U.S. rank tenth in that category. Switzerland ranked first, with a top teacher salary of $73,946. The OECD mean salary in that category was $41,366.

The U.S. ranks 5th in teachers’ salaries

According to the most recent data available from the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the top teacher salary for primary teachers in the United States in 1999 was $48,782, making the U.S. rank fifth in that category. South Korea ranked first, with a top teacher salary of $69,818. The OECD mean salary in that category was $36,145.
