The U.S. ranks 6th in sugar exports

According to the International Trade Centre, in 2005 the United States exported $545,220,000 worth of sugar, molasses, and honey, or 3.4% of the world total. That was enough to make the United States rank sixth in that category. Brazil ranked first, exporting $3,952,221,000 worth, or 24.9% of the world total.

According to the International Trade Centre, in 2005 the United States imported $1,423,113,000 worth of sugar, molasses, and honey, enough to make the United States rank first in that category.

The U.S. ranks 2nd in sugar beets

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2007 the United States produced 31,912,000 tonnes of sugar beets, which was enough to make the United States ranks second in that category. France ranked first, producing 32,338,000 tonnes.

The U.S. ranks 4th in sugar consumption

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2003 the United States consumed 8,614,460 tonnes of refined sugar, which was enough to make the United States rank fourth in that category. India ranked first, consuming 17,622,733 tonnes.
