According to the OECD “Better Life Index,” the United States ranks sixth in terms of overall quality of life among thirty-six industrialized democracies. The top ten countries are:

- Sweden
- Canada
- Norway
- Switzerland
- United States
- Denmark
- Netherlands
- Iceland
- United Kingdom
