According to the International Centre for Prison Studies, there are 2,228,424 prisoners in the United States. That is enough to make the United States rank first in that category. The second highest number of prisoners is in China, at 1,701,344.
The U.S. ranks 19th in national satisfaction
According to the Pew Global Attitudes Project, 33% of Americans are satisfied “with the way things are going” in their country. That makes the United States rank nineteenth out of forty-four countries ranked in that category. China ranks first, with 87% of Chinese saying that they are satisfied with how things are going in China.

The U.S. ranks 30th in folk religions
According to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, there are an estimated 630,000 Americans who practice folk religions. That is enough to make the United States rank thirtieth out of more than two hundred countries ranked in that category. China ranks first, with an estimated 294,320,000 practitioners of folk religions.
The U.S. ranks 24th in literacy
According to the Program for International Student Assessment, the average reading literacy score for U.S. fifteen-year old students is 498 (out of 1000 possible points). That is enough to make the United States rank twenty-fourth out of sixty-five educational systems ranked in that category. Shangai, China, ranked first, with a score of 570.
The U.S. ranks 11th in condom use at most recent sex
According to the Durex study “Face of Global Sex 2012,” 65.3% of Americans report having used a condom during their most recent sexual experience. That is enough to make the United States rank eleventh out of thirty-seven countries ranked in that category. China ranks first, with 78.9% of Chinese reporting having used a condom during their most recent sexual experience.
The U.S. ranks 13th in Buddhists
According to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, the United States has an estimated population of 3,570,000 Buddhists. That is enough to make the United States rank thirteenth out of more than two hundred countries ranked in that category. China ranks first, with a population of 244,130,000 Buddhists.
The U.S. ranks 3rd in religiously unaffiliated persons
According to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, there are an estimated 50,980,000 religiously unaffiliated persons living in the United States. That is enough to make the United States rank third out of more than two hundred countries ranked in that category. China ranks first, with an estimated 700,680,000 religiously unaffiliated persons.
The U.S. ranks 9th in anticipated Chinese superiority
According to Pew, 34% of Americans believe that China will eventually surpass the United States as a global superpower. That is enough to make the United States tied for ninth with Mexico out of twenty-two countries ranked in that category. China ranks first, with 57% of Chinese believing that their country will surpass the United States. India ranks last, with only 19% of Indians believing that China will surpass the United States.
The U.S. ranks 12th in perceived Chinese supremacy
According to the Pew Global Attitudes Project, 12% of Americans believe that China has overtaken the United States as a global superpower. That makes the United States tied for thirteenth with Japan out of twenty-two countries ranked in that category. France ranks first, with 23% of the French believing that China has surpassed the United States. China ranks last, with only 6% of Chinese believing that their country has surpassed the United States.
The U.S. ranks 46th in sheep
According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in 2010 the United States had a total stock of 5,620,000 head of sheep, or 08% of the world’s total sheep stock. That is enough to make the United States rank forty-sixth out of one hundred ninety ranked countries. China ranks first, with 134,021,213 head of sheep, or 20.2% of the world’s total sheep.
