The U.S. ranks 3rd in Winter Olympic gold medals for mens hockey

According to the Olympic.org, the U.S. has won 2 gold medals in Mens Ice Hockey since 1920. That is enough to make the United States tied for third with Sweden. Canada and the Soviet Union are tied for first with eight gold medals each.

The U.S. ranks 1st in airports

According to the most recent data available from CIA World Factbook, the U.S. has 15,079 airports, or 34. 3% of the world’s total airports.  That is enough to make the United States rank first in that category.

The U.S. ranks 55th in Muslim population

According to the Pew Research Center, in 2009 the United States had a Muslim population of 2,454,000. That is enough to make the United States rank fifty-fifth out of one hundred and sixty-nine countries ranked. Indonesia ranked first with a Muslim population of 202,867,000.

The U.S. ranks 4th in banana production

According to FAOStat.org  in 2008, the U.S. produced 3% of the worlds bananas.  In addition to Cuba, Cypress, Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel, the United States  ranks fourth out of ten countries.   Turkey ranks first, with a banana production rate of 6%.

The U.S. ranks 24th in military expenditures

According to the CIA World Factbook, in 2005 the United States spent 4.1% of their GPD on military expenditures, enough to make the United States rank twenty-fourth out of the 174 countries that were ranked in that category. Oman ranks first, spending 11.4% of their GPD on military expenditures.

The U.S ranks 3rd in deaths due to road accidents

According to the World Resources Institute in 2005 the United States experienced 43,443 deaths due to road accidents. That is enough to make the United States rank third out of seventy four countries ranked in that category. China ranks first with 98,738 deaths due to road accidents.

The U.S. ranks 1st in recovered paper

According to data from FAOstat in 2008, the United States recovered 46,835,875 tonnes of paper to later be recycled. That is enough for the United States to rank first in that category.
