According to the CIA World Factbook, in 2005 the United States spent an estimated 5.30% of its GDP on education, which makes the United States tied for fifty-fourth in that category with Belize, Jamaica, and the Netherlands, out of one hundred eighty-two ranked countries. Kiribati ranks first, at 17.80%.
The U.S. ranks 89th in digestive disease death rates
According to the World Health Organization, in 2002 an estimated 30.0 out of every 100,000 Americans died of a digestive disease, a rate that makes the United States rank eighty-ninth in that category. Kiribati ranks first, with a digestive disease death rate of 144.9 per 100,000.
The U.S. ranks 89th in death by cancer
According to the World Health Organization’s World Health Statistics, 2008, the United States has a cancer mortality rate of 134 per 100,000 population, which makes it tied for eighty-ninth (with Congo, Italy, and Luxembourg) in that category. Mongolia ranks first, with a cancer mortality rate of 306 per 100,000 population. Kiribati has the lowest rate, at 52 per 100,000.
