The U.S. ranks 4th in potato quantity

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in 2007 the United States had about 17177371.9 tonnes of the potatoes, or about 8.32% of the worlds potatoes. That’s enough to make the United States rank fourth in that category. China ranked first with 43480655.72 tonnes of potatoes, or 20.83 % of the worlds total.

    The student who put this together was looking at FAO data on the supply of potatoes. 2007 was the most recent data available for that statistic on the FAO website.
