The U.S. ranks 16th in liking Iran
According to the Pew Global Attitudes Project, 13% of Americans have a favorable view of Iran, which is enough to make the United States tied for sixteenth with Brazil, out of twenty-one countries surveyed in that category. Pakistan ranks first, with 76% of Pakistani’s having a favorable view of Iran.
The U.S. ranks 19th in internationally important wetlands
According to the World Resources Institute, there are nineteen wetlands of international importance in the United States, which makes the United States tied for nineteenth with India and Pakistan in that category. The United Kingdom ranks first with one hundred fifty-seven internationally important wetlands.
The U.S. ranks 3rd in armed forces personnel
According to the World Bank, in 2008 there were 1,540,000 military members in the United States, or 5.6% of the world’s 27,469,342 armed forces personnel. That was enough to make the United States rank third out of one hundred sixty seven countries with armed forces. China ranks first, with 2,885,000 military members, or 10.5% of the world’s total.
Ten countries–China, India, the United States, Russia, North Korea, Pakistan, Egypt, Brazil, South Korea, and Turkey–account for almost one half (49.5%) of the world’s total armed forces personnel.
The U.S. ranks 3rd in rice exports
According to the International Trade Centre, in 2005 the United States exported $1,290,696,000 worth of rice, or 15.1% of the world’s total, enough to make the United States rank third in that category. Thailand ranked first, exporting $2,321,682,000 worth of rice, or 27.1% of the world’s total.
The top five countries–Thailand, India, the United States, Pakistan, and Vietnam–acccounted for 79.8% of all rice exports.
The U.S. ranks 73rd in dairy spending
According to the USDA, Americans spend, on average, 8.59% of their food expenditures on dairy products, which makes the United States rank seventy-third out of 114 countries in that category.
Pakistan ranks first, with per capita dairy expenditures at 26.84% of total food expenditures. Sierra Leone ranks last, with per capita dairy expenditures at 1.13% of total food expenditures.
The world average is 9.60% in that category. The country closest to the world average is Peru, at 9.62%.
